A Quick Look at a Lot of Ironman Results

Latest statistics for Ironman Austria

There were far too many races on Sunday for me to have any hope of analysing them all today. I have results from Ironman Austria, France Coeur d’Alene and Wimbleball, the Exmoor 70.3 (or UK 70.3 as it used to be known), to go through. As I can’t tackle them all today, I’ve quickly produced split distributions for each of these races so I can generalise whether they were fast or slow this year.

Ironman Austria 2015

Distribution of Finisher Splits at Ironman Austria 2015 Compared to 2005-2014

Based on distribution alone Austria looks to have been largely on par, perhaps a fraction slower in 2015.

Ironman Coeur d’Alene 2015

Distribution of Finisher Splits at Ironman Coeur d'Alene 2015 Compared to 2003-2014

Distributions suggest a divided field in Coeur d’Alene – the front of pack is largely on par, but by the middle of the field the race is very clearly lower. It’ll be interesting to see if a closer analysis reveals any more on this one.

Ironman France 2015

Distribution of Finisher Splits at Ironman France 2015 Compared to 2005-2014

Nice looks to have been a touch slower for this year’s race, coming mostly on the run I think.

Ironman Exmoor 70.3 2015

Distribution of Finisher Splits at Ironman UK Exmoor 70.3 2015 Compared to 2006-2014

Wimbleball comes out largely on par with a faster than usual swim, but a slightly slower bike that balance each other out.

More details on all of these will follow this week along with spreadsheets of their results.
