Beginner is the best place to start :-) (I did mean competitive with yourself rather than others). I'm sure it'll get easier; as you know I think it's awesome exercise. I'm sure doing full-on yoga up to about 24 weeks is why I haven't had the back problems that all the doctors expected despite my ridiculous current body shape. Or at least that's my theory and I'm sticking to it.

Oh I wasn't being competitive... What you have to realise is how easily my legs were willing to cramp!

Actually I had to be helped into one pose because my quads are so tight! After the session the instructor asked if it was challenging enough. I'm definitely at beginner level right now.

Don't forget that yoga isn't competitive - if you get cramp or pain, you should take a break from the pose. Tricky for athletes I know, but it should be slow development, not just using your strength to force the poses to happen :-)
