In reply to elisa. Elisa, There are quite a few lake based options available. If you're based near to Dorney Lake in the SE then a number of events are organised there. Have a look at Human Race and F3 Events both of whom organise some long distance swim events. My first 10K was organised by Human Race at Dorney Lake. Hope that's some help, Russ

Hi, I did my first open water swim at Windermere and I enjoyed it a lot!I did (just) 2 miles, but I am seriously thinking of doing a 10k swim next year!
can you suggest one that is good??maybe in a lake instead of river..

Lovely to read your post. I swam the Jubilee River 10K yesterday and enjoyed it very much. Thanks for articulating so well what it was like to take part in the inaugural swim in such a beautiful river.
