You get pretty good results on that volume too!

It's horses for courses, always had a high volume approach, love to train generally. Whilst the lower hours might be one thing I comment on I think the real disappointment came from the lack of consistency and low motivation I had. Had those hours beens evenly spread over the week and generally of a reasonable quality I'd have been a lot happier.

Definitely routed in fatigue from the hard work of the previous few weeks and just not doing enough to recover well.

I love the fact you class 23-24hrs as a poor week, especially in lead-up to an Ironman event. I barely go over 20hrs and av 15.0/week to date this year.

In reply to <a href="https://www.coachcox.co.uk/2010/07/26/road-to-kona-2010-week-six-failure/#comment-1293">Triathlon789</a>.

Ultimately how you taper comes down to fitness and what you want from the race. There's been a lot of work lately and if I want to be fresh for the race I probably need a bigger taper.

On the other hand it isn't really my priority race - I want it to be a very hard session, a test of my Kona readiness with time to work on things afterwards.

So feeling a bit fresher today I'm leaning towards the 4 days block and 2 day taper and see what comes on race day. The planned recovery week will then happen before the big push for Kona.

Sleep and recovery are a priority this week though having failed there last week.
